Stop me if you’ve toroslar escort heard this one before. Set in 1963, a former thief turned CIA agent Napoleon Solo is on a mission to gather Intel from the daughter of a nuclear scientist in East Berlin. During the mission he is confronted by KGB agent Illya Kuryakin whose on a similar mission regarding the scientist’s daughter Gaby Teller.
Once the inter-agency politics between America and Russia are sorted, Napoleon, Illya and Gaby are tasked with finding the scientist and stoping a power couple from launching the nuclear weapon.
Spies who don’t like each other are forced to work together to stop a nuclear crisis, as tired as this story is it still deserves love and attention. Henry Cavill plays Napoleon, I’m sure at this point in his career he knows he only gets jobs because of his looks right? His fine as new-school Superman, he just has to show up and brood for 2 hours, but you’d think given the opportunity to do something else he’d jump at the chance to switch things up.
Armie Hammer plays Illya the KGB agent.I’m sure at this point in his career he knows he only gets jobs because of his looks right? He was fine as new-school Lone Ranger, he just had to show up and act silly for 2 hours, but you’d think given the opportunity to do something else he’d jump at the chance to switch things up.
Director Guy Ritchie does the heavy lifting from behind the camera. He has a beautiful eye for colour and composition. He works hard on getting the esthetic just right for the world his putting on screen. This is evident in the 2 Sherlock Holmes movies he did previously. The action gets too silly at times, but with actors who can carry that with a straight face, I don’t mind it too much. I’m sure by now you know what I think the problem is, the “super models” on screen are no fun. The audience in the theater was bored. No chuckles no giggles, nothing! Watching waiting for the next action scene and the one after that. I’m sure on paper Guy Ritchie saw this as a trilogy, but the cast is not worth the trouble. It’s a shame that something this good looking falls in the generic entertainment category. Shame I say.
