Suicide Squad : Movie Review

By on August 6, 2016

Suicide Squad is DC films’ best movie yet, it’s 1% better than Man of Steel and BvS, yes I said it now lets move on.

The trailers didn’t sell me anything I didn’t get when I put on my 3D glasses. In comparison, Man of Steel and BvS sold a game changing premise and fell embarrassingly short. Suicide Squad is not a gem by any stretch of the imagination but it delivered on the lollipop entertainment.

The little story that’s Suicide Squad goes…

It’s been a couple of months since the death of Boring Superman and Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) decides to start Task Force X. This is a band of the most dangerous criminals in the DC universe to work for the government as a black ops team.
Conveniently, one of the criminals (a meta human witch) does bad guy stuff (I know right) and now the “Suicide Squad” must step in and save the world ( I’m sure you’ve figured out the problem with the story already).

The first +-30 mins of this movie is energetic and coherent. It’s Amanda Waller selling the idea of Task Force X to the government. Done. Then the movie starts trying too hard to be cool…but it works. Will Smith’s Deadshot is interesting enough to hold your attention. He has a backstory I’d like to see more of someday, but right now he just needs to point and shot. Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn is fun, the madness I got from the trailers she delivered on. Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney) was funny when he needed to be, because sometimes saying just enough on screen can save your career.

The soundtrack is terrible. It’s just a collection of “cool” songs that are suppose to get the audience to think what’s on screen is hip and happening “yo”. It cheapens a movie that’s already on a fine line.

On the realzeeys (fun word) not sure why the Joker needs to be in this movie, he was annoying hands down. The movie needed less of him. He was giggling every 12 seconds for no reason. He was more concerned about his looks than what was happening around him. He better not be the villain in the solo Batman movie.

This movie has no rhyme or reason to exist. I’m surprised this made sense on paper, but I liked Suicide Squad.
