Central Intelligence: movie review
By ChicksLoveGeeks on June 28, 2016
This is as generic as they get folks.
Let me explain.
The story is about a fat kid (Dwayne Johnson) who gets embarrassed in high school next to the most popular kid (Kevin Hart) in school. Years later the 2 are reunited, the fat kid “Bob Stone” is now built like Hercules and the popular kid Calvin Joyer has become a joke in the eyes of his colleagues. Bob stone is an energetic intrusive CIA agent who is using Calvin for his accounting skills to stop a world threat.
I repeat, the plot is as genetic as they come, but the chemistry between Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart is great. It gets tiresome 5 jokes in but they seem to be having fun. I can understand why Dwayne Johnson would make a movie like this, it seems to be part of a plan to diversify his acting chops to create more opportunities for himself. Not sure why anyone is still amused by Kevin Hart playing Kevin Hart in yet another movie starring Kevin Hart. I admit, I’m a fan of the BET comedy Real Husbands of Hollywood, it’s dumb, I laugh no one gets hurt.
I think this hurts Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. He’s not playing the same character as the hero in San Andreas and this shows progress. This movie will be judged as a whole and 50% of Central Intelligence is in the hands of a broken record. This movie needs to fade fast or Dwayne Johnson is in trouble.
The film is not worth a movie ticket but The Rock is fun to watch. It’s not a good action movie or comedy but I say again, The Rock is fun to watch in a comedic role.
